Paula Favalora Spencer

Paula Favalora Spencer passed away on January 9, 2021 at the age of 67 surrounded by her loving family. She is the beloved wife of 50 + years to Hubert Spencer Jr.; cherished mother of Douglas Spencer (Mort), Troy Spencer (Melissa), and Bridget Sabathe (Johnny); loving grandmother of Emily Zulli (Kenny), Dillon Sabathe, Bryce Spencer, Brodie Spencer, Dalton Sabathe, Carter Spencer, Kennedey Spencer, and Levi Spencer; and caring sister of Debbie McCrossen (Bill), Peggy Ricard (Steve), and Alfred Favalora Jr (Sharon). She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Paula was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of St. Bernard Parish before moving to Slidell, Louisiana in 2000. She was born on February 18, 1953 to Esther Billings Favalora and the late Alfred Favalora. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and retired from the FBI as an Intelligence Analyst in 2016 after 33 years of dedicated service. Paula enjoyed nothing more than the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her love for travel started with Hubert and her children; it continued with her grandchildren, be it at an event across the country or halfway around the world. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, she spent most of her weekends at the ballfields cheering on her grandchildren. She loved cooking/baking and is known by all for her famous "Lemon Cake" and "Rum Cake." She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her contagious smile and giving heart by all who knew her. Her love will be missed by all. Paula battled cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs and having a smile on her face. It would be wrong to say Paula lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was determined. When anyone would have broken, Paula stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Paula. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation (adhering to social distancing guidelines) on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a cancer research foundation are preferred.
