Peter Joseph "P.J." Brady Jr.

1932 - 2023

It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Peter Joseph 'P.J.' Brady, Jr announce his death on November 22, 2023, at the age of 91. A lifelong resident of La Place, LA, he was predeceased by his parents Peter Joseph Brady, Sr and Josephine Hymel Brady; and his siblings, Milton Brady (late Sylvia), John Brady (Joan) and Mary Brady. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Ann Cantillo Brady and his children, Brian Brady (Melissa), Julie Ferguson (Ron), Shelly Richard (Dwain), Anthony 'Tony' Brady (Amanda) and Joanna Eckhardt (Sean). He was a grandfather to Jana Brady (Clay), Emma Richard St. Pierre (Dustin), Renee Richard, Lucy Eckhardt, Sophia Eckhardt and his great grandson Brady Henry St. Pierre. He is also survived by his siblings Donald 'Donoo' Brady, Jimmy Brady (Julie), Patrick Brady (late Janice), Mike Brady (Sharon), Catherine Brady Remondet (Garland), Bobby Brady, Billy Brady and many nieces and nephews. Before he began his career at Shell Chemical, P.J. was a Navy Veteran aboard the USS Delta during the Korean War. He was proud to be one of the founding charter members of the local VFW Post 3337. He loved being in his boat and fishing with his brothers at their camp in Dulac. P.J. also enjoyed his small garden and attending Tulane Football games. He was most comfortable when surrounded by his large family cooking together and drinking beer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W 5th St, Laplace, LA 70068. Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial to immediately follow at St. John Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Administration home in Reserve, LA. Although he will be greatly missed, we are thankful he is at lasting peace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Church, 412 Fir Street, La Place, LA 70068.
