Phillip DiFatta Obituary

Phillip James "P.J." DiFatta, Jr. was born in St. Bernard parish on 6/8/1988. His life was taken too soon by his own hand Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the age of 33. P.J. was known early on as the spirited boy with bright blue eyes, signature smirk, and a willingness to debate almost any topic. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 2006, attended Nunez Community College, and completed the EMS program. He enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, beginning with hunting and fishing with his father. At the age of 16, he won first place in the prestigious Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo aboard the aptly named "Captain P.J." He was an avid video gamer, making a name for himself in online communities, with friends often referring to him as "Right Click." His most recent pursuits were in day trading, film making, and music writing. While P.J. faced many challenges in his lifetime, his family's greatest hope is that he has finally found peace. P.J. is survived by his devoted parents Phillip James "Jim" DiFatta, Sr. and Lynette Richard DiFatta, his older sister Jamie DiFatta, his uncle and godfather Joseph S. "Joey" DiFatta, Jr., his aunt and godmother Kelly Richard Koch (Eric), and his cousins Joseph S. "Joey" DiFatta, III (Francesca), Jeffrey DiFatta, Felicia Koch James (Bradley), and Christopher "Chris" SanMarco, Jr. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Lynn J. "Pops" Richard and Antoinette "Nettie" Macaluso Richard, and paternal grandparents Joseph S. "Joe" DiFatta, Sr. and Alice "Nana" Richoux DiFatta. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, October 16th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Phillip's memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. A reception at Jim and Lynette's home will follow to celebrate P.J.'s life. Due to Covid-19, face masks and social distancing are required. To view and sign the Family Guestbook, please visit www.stbernardmemorial.com.

Jim, Lynette, Jamie , we are heartsick and so very sorry for your loss. We remember that sweet little boy with the bright blue eyes and cute smirk, waiting outside of St. Mark for Jamie , Lena and all of their friends at the end of the school day. He was a St . Mark kid before he was old enough to go to school. . LWe also remember what loving and devoted parents you were to both of your children. Sending you all much love , many prayers and our sympathies.
