Pierre Olivier Obituary

Pierre Duclozel ""P.D.'' Olivier died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales, LA. He was 86 years old. Residing in Gonzales for the last two years, he was a native of St. Martinville , LA, grew up in Vacherie, LA and lived in the Washington, DC area for over 50 years. He was retired from Johnston, Lemon & Co. of Washington, DC. He served in the US Army during World War II participating in the New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago and Luzon campaigns in the South Pacific, where he as awarded a Bronze Star Medal. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, celebrated by the Reverend J. Austin Leger. Entombment will be in the Olivier family tomb in the church cemetery. He is survived by his two sisters, Corinne Olivier Bolton of Vacherie and Mary Alice Olivier Bourgeois of Baton Rouge and nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his loving and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Inez Pedeaux Olivier, his sister Inez Olivier Schexnayder, his two brothers George Olivier and Alcee Olivier, and his beloved companion Lana Hawkins. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales. The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. John Knapp and Dr. Bogdan Nowakowski. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to historic St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, P.O. Drawer 10, St. Martinville, LA 70582. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, in charge of arrangements.
