Queenie van der Veer Obituary

Queenie Mackenzie van der Veer, a retired Registered Nurse, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 24, 2003 at 2:35 p.m. at Maison Hospitaliere. She was 87 years. She was born on the island of Montserrat in the West Indies and was a resident of New Orleans, LA for 53 years. She was a graduate Registered Nurse from Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing in London, England. She worked 30 years as an office nurse for Dr.'s Fred K. Vaughan and his successors, Wright Kemmerly and Jefferson Steele, an OB/GYN practice in the Pere Marquette Building. Wife of the late Carl Hollender and the late W.K. van der Veer. Mother of Ariel Hollender and W. Jansen van der Veer both of New Orleans, LA. Sister of Florence E. Miller of Fort Worth, TX, S.W. "Nick' Howes of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the late Bruce and Kinglsey Howes. Daughter of the late Florence Gillie and S.W. Howes. Grandmother of Nicholas Hollender Marks of Santa Monica, CA. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins in the US, Caribbean, Canada and England. A Memorial Service will be held today, Wednesday, January 29, 2003 from Trinity Episcoapl Chapel, 1329 Jackson Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Trinity Chapel Renovation Fund, preferred. BULTMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3338 St. Charles Ave. in charge of arrangements. Information: 895-7766.
