Ralph C. Grimaldi Jr.

GRIMALDI Ralph C. Grimaldi, Jr., a resident of Eden Isles, aged 63, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in a boating accident in a New Orleans water way. He was born on June 6, 1947 to Gloria Dolhonde Grimaldi and Ralph C. Grimaldi, Sr. He attended St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans and graduated from Loyola University. He presided over the family business Grimaldi Construction and related businesses for many years. He was an avid lifelong boating and fishing enthusiast and enjoyed many fishing trips along the Gulf Coast and Lake Pontchar-train with family and friends. His love of history, animals and more specifically Border Collies was known to all. He was an active member of the Eden Isles Homeowners Association and was so devoted to this community that he rebuilt his home there after Hurricane Katrina. He was a doting grandfather and enjoyed many trips with his grandchildren to Maine, Disneyworld, Yellowstone and out West, often in his treasured motor home. On the day of his death he was doing one of the things he loved most. He had caught his biggest redfish yet. He had a passion for life and lived everyday doing the things he loved. He is survived by his four children: Suzanne E. Grimaldi, Jennifer Grimaldi DuBois, Ralph C. Grimaldi III and Steven S. Grimaldi and seven grandchildren: Finbar, Austin, Jagger, Declan, Eva, Sawyer and Duncan. In addition he leaves behind a sister, Judy Grimaldi Pappalardo, her husband Albert Pappalardo, four nieces and nephews and his beloved Border Collie, Amos. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
