Reginald Dixon Obituary

In a very peaceful way, God called Reginald home to heaven early Sunday morning on October 14, 2018. We have lost our earthly angel and a very vital part of our family, but as a result, heaven has gained a new angel. He is now receiving his reward of eternal life with our Heavenly Father and our mother Mary accompanied by all the angels and saints. He loved us all so devotedly and so deeply and loved so many others, whether they were family, friends, strangers, parents or his son. We thank God for our constant and continual prayer warriors and for the beautiful blessing of a young man who befriended anyone who needed a friend or just needed a kind ear. Our beautiful memories of Reg will live on forever in our hearts and minds. He will be severely and deeply missed until we reunite again. There was no greater blessing to him than his son, Reginald D. Dixon. Reg was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Lonnie B. Dixon, Gloria J. Dixon, Melba T. DeGruy and John M. DeGruy, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Reginald Darante Dixon; his devoted parents, Albert Zale Franklin, Marlene DeGruy Franklin and his father, Reginald Bennett Dixon, Sr. in addition to a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. With great appreciation, we give special thanks to the many who were devoted to Reginald over the years but especially to the doctors and specialists at Touro Hospital, Hospice Compassus, 1st Class Care Every Time LLC, Lerner Jackson, Gilda Smith, Nora Carvajal and all the compassionate caregivers who helped along the way. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Interment was in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.

My dear sweet Reginald. May you rest in peace. Our time together was short but memorable. I was not only your caregiver once upon a time but also friend. We had so much fun chilling on the porch while you intertan my foolishness. I will always be thankful for God crossing our paths you and the family will forever be in my heart. Until we meet again.

No one knows the pain of a mother when she loses her child. To my sister Marlene over 18 years ago You Albert and myself were in the Hospital Chapel Praying and asking God to spear Reginald's life. I remember that as if were yesterday. I also remember your Prayer. You ask God not to take your Son. Even if you had to sacrifice the rest of you days caring for him you were willing to make that sacrifice Through out the 18 years your Son had many battles in the hospital. Sometimes he would be there for over a month at a time. All the while you were there 24 seven. With your overnight bags never complaining. Just doing whatever you needed to do to keep him alive. I know you miss him and it's hard to face each day. Remember this my Sweet Sister. I can't take the pain away but always know I will walk with you through out Life's Journey. God will see us through. I LOVE YOU
Your brother Glen
