Rita Mader Obituary

Rita Kinta Boehm Mader passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Msgt. George W. Mader, Sr. Loving mother of George W. Mader, Jr. (Stephanie), Peter Mader (Kari), Teresa Mader Shurley and Kinta Mader LeBlanc (Greg). Grandmother of Beau Mader, Jacques Mader, Kinta Grace Mader, Elliott Horton, Niall Horton, Aurora Mader, Megan Shurley Dessauer (Donnie), Matthew Shurley and Evan Shurley. Great grandmother of Finnley McGhee, Otis McGhee, Liam Mader, Gabriel Dessauer and Julien Dessauer. Daughter of the late Peter Herman Boehm and Laida Savoy Boehm. Sister of Marcella Boehm Beter. Mrs. Mader was born on Bourbon Street and loved Mardi Gras. She belonged and volunteered with Nativity of Our Lord Church, Kenner Citizens Police Academy, University City Civic Association, University City Lions Club Auxiliary, University City Garden Club, Grace King and Bonnabel High School Band Booster Clubs, John McDonough Chatterers Class of 1940 and Jefferson Council on Aging. She was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis as presented by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She was a volunteer nurse at Charity Hospital during World War II and also volunteered with the USO during World War II. She was known for her limitless generosity, kindness, effervescent spirit and love for life. "Hot to Trot" will be sorely missed as she was deeply loved by her family, as well as by countless friends and acquaintances. We are all grateful for having her in our lives. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Fidelis Care Group V for their excellent care, love and support, as well as Clarity Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy, Kenner on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin in church at 9:300 a.m. Interment to follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale.
