Sadly, I am just hearing about this. We never got to meet as planned, but I felt like we knew each other through Facebook. Robert was a patriot of honor, distinction, and service. He is sorely missed by those who knew him and even guys like me who never had the pleasure to meet him. This is difficult, but Roll Tide! Semper Fidelis and requiescat in pace.

LTC Robert Allen, known as "Rob" to me, was a dear friend in high school. Over the years we have reconnected over Facebook to encourage each other in life, as well as, a playful rival between L.S.U. & BAMA. He had such a kind heart towards friends and family. I am so thankful for his deep love and service for our country. His accomplishments in life impacted and helped so many people; it is wonderful to leave such a respectful legacy. My deepest sympathy for his family. Sincerely, Becky Styron

I served with LTC Allen in the Alabama National Guard when we were both assigned to the 167th Theater Sustainment Command Special Troops Battalion. Everyone has people who come into their lives seemingly at random times that make such a positive difference that they will never be forgotten. LTC Allen was one of those people in my life. It was impossible to have a bad day with him around. His spirit was one of continuous hope and blessing. He was intelligent, congenial and, above all, a true patriot and brother in arms. I have some gemstones that he brought me from one of his trips to Afghanistan. I treasure the memories I have of his eternally optimistic attitude and sense of humor. Rest in peace, sir.

I served with Rob in the US Government. He was better known as Spanky. He was my mentor for many aspects of my professional and personal life. This is a tough loss for many. I’m going to miss our long conversations about how one day Arkansas football will beat Alabama. Spanky was the truest of warriors. Always willing lend an ear, give advice when warranted, and always told you straight up how he saw things. I love you brother and will miss you dearly.

What a great guy! He would do anything for you. Great cop, great military officer, great friend. The world was a better place because of him. I know he’ll still be watching over us all. I will miss him dearly.
