Robert Oliver Cramer III

1952 - 2023

Robert Oliver Cramer III passed away on Sunday, April 30th in Abita Springs at the age of 70. Robbie was born to Alberta Spilmann Cramer & Robert Oliver Cramer on August 10, 1952 in New Orleans, LA. Grandson to Ralph Spilmann & Mary Stiebing Spilmann, Clifford Cramer & Vernice Savoie Cramer. He grew up in Uptown New Orleans in a large German Catholic family, attending St. Henry, St. Francis of Assisi, De LaSalle, Fortier and then on to Nicholls State University. Lifelong supporter of NORD playing baseball at Wisner Playground, coaching at Eleanor Playground and later in Abita Springs. He loved live music & saw amazing bands perform throughout his life. In the late 60s, he sang in the band The 12th Rendition. In the 70s, he worked at Charity Hospital and later McDermott where he helped open their NYC office. In 1977, he married Barbara Manning & in 1980, their daughter Michelle was born. In the 80s & 90s, he could be found at our family camp on Lake Pontchartrain catching and boiling crabs. His love of crawfish led him to open Cramer's Crustacean's, farming soft shell crawfish to be served in restaurants across New Orleans. He introduced them to the world with Chef Paul Prudhomme on the Today Show. He treasured his yearly get together with the boys from Uptown & watching his cousin Ricky play in the Four Unplugged & JJ Muggler. He loved Classic Rock - especially Led Zeppelin, watching the Saints & Tigers play, & Louisiana Seafood. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and siblings Robert O. Cramer II, Eddie Cramer Sr., & Christine Herbert. He was survived by his daughter Michelle, son-in-law Douglas Clarke, and grandchildren Sydney (Eric), Zoe, Milo & Charlie, his siblings Darlene Adams (Brian), Cathleen Shexnaydre (Kevin), Ronnie Cramer (Tina), Randy Cramer (Cyndi), brother-in-law Joe and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70002 on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment in St. Vincent Cemetery.
