Robert Preston Obituary

PRESTON Robert Andrews Preston, Jr. Bob Preston passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 49 years old. "Bobby" went to rest after a prolonged battle with depression. He was adored by his two sons, Ian English Preston, age 18, and Parrish Robert Preston, age 15, both of whom reside in Nashville, TN (since Hurricane Katrina) with their mother and his wife of 21 years, Lisa D. Seals-Preston. Bobby was a devoted son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Preston of North Carolina, and was dearly loved by his siblings, Katherine Migaki, Molly Zisk, Margaret Preston, and James Preston. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and spent his early childhood in Louisville, Kentucky. Bob's family moved to New Orleans in 1974 and it was there that he pursued a career in law; he devoted himself to the representation of disadvantaged clients, and sought to effect public policy changes to benefit and empower his fellow man. Bobby was dedicated to and extremely proud of his two boys, and never stopped working hard to support their development and ensuring their safety and success. He was profoundly appreciative of the Nashville community who opened their arms and their schools to provide shelter from "the storm", and ultimately a new home for his wife and sons to live and thrive. Family, Friends, and Colleagues: Please help us celebrate and honor the life of this special father, son, lawyer, friend, at a Visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana, on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in Belmont Abbey, No. Carolina. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal School, New Orleans, La., or Montgomery Bell Academy, Nashville, Tennessee. Dear Helen, Bob, and Peggy,
I was very saddened to learn of Bobby's death. I have celebrated several Masses for him and your consolation. Christ's rising from the dead means that death has been defeated: I realize that this may seem rather incredible at a time like this. Christ's resurrection is surely a gift, and perhaps a surprise gift. We of the Jesuit community have remembered Bobby and you all in our prayers this week.Be assured of our continuing prayers for your healing.
Love,
Stephen [Rowntree,SJ]
