Robert Wayne Rushing

1947 - 2022

Robert Wayne Rushing passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born on April 9, 1947 at his home in Pumpkin Center, LA and was a resident of Abita Springs for 30 years. Wayne served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2010 from Trinity Marine in Madisonville, where he worked as a ship builder for 42 years. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle racing, and spending time with family. Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Nickens Rushing; father, Byron Rushing; sister, Phyllis Rushing Parsons; and grandson, James Matthew Rushing. Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deborah Goldate Rushing and their children, Robin Lynn Rushing (Weldon "Fred" Clark), Ryan Matthew Rushing (Catherine), and Casey Michael Rushing (Alanna). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Survivors also include his sisters, Iris Summers, Jeanie Neal, Corlis Meyers, and Norma Rushing, and his brother, Timmy Rushing. Wayne's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home, as well as Saint Catherine's Hospice, for their special care and support.
