To the Ward family I extend my sincerest condolences. Roger was a fine southern gentleman always quick to offer a kind word and a gentle smile. He will be missed but I know he is already at work with the saints making Heaven just a little more "down home"...

I worked with Roger for a short time at Trinity and he was a kind, inspirational man. I am saddened to hear of his passing and pray for all those he left behind as we mourn. God's blessings to his family...

I was so honored to have worked with Roger at Trinity Church. He was truly a loving, committed, gracious, brave, inspirational, gentle and wise man with an infectious laugh. I feel honored and blessed to have known and learned from him. My thoughts are prayers are with you Gayle and the rest of the family.

Over 5 decades ago we got to know Roger when we were all students. He was an ally and companion during the civil rights era. As the years ate themselves up, the times between our contacts lengthened. After Katrina, we searched and found him and his family in their new home. I'm glad we did. Our condolences go to Gayle and the children. Roger was one of the good guys. One of the best of the good guys.

My heart goes out to Gayle and all of Roger's immediate & extended family. You all have been and will continue to be in my prayers. Roger was an amazing man who influenced my life greatly - sometimes in very subtle ways; other times more directly. His gentleness, warmth, humility, faith, commitment to social justice & race relations and graciousness for all that God has given him will forever be imprinted on my heart. Thank you, Roger, for your loving Christian friendship.

I was privileged to have known Dr. Ward as a teacher of mine teacher at Newman School, and also, as a devoted outreach director at Trinity Church, where I have worshipped my whole life. I commend him for his outstanding service at both institutions, and I am sorry to hear of his recent passing. May God bless him in eternal rest, and bless his survivors as well.

How do we find the words to express how much Roger has meant to us through the years? He was friend and mentor and he has done so much good during his time on this earth. I am sure God plans to put him to work ASAP!
