Romalice Pleasant

1928 - 2021

On September 10, 2021, Romalice Pleasant entered into eternal rest at Touro Hospital at the age of 92 years old. He was born on October 15, 1928, in St. James, Louisiana to the union of Earl Pleasant and Eunice Marshall. He was reared by his grandmother Lorenza Marshall. He was educated in the St. James school system and was baptized at an early age. Romalice met and married his late wife, Mathilda Geason Pleasant in 1943. To their union eleven children were born, six sons and five daughters. Romalice worked at Continental Can Company for 34 years to support his family, retiring in 1977. In the early 1990s he joined Mount Salem Missionary Baptist Church and served in the capacity of Doorkeeper (Usher). He remained a faithful member until his health began to decline. Unable to complete his education, Romalice stressed the importance of education to his grandchildren. Romalice leaves to cherish his memories four sons Walter, Paul, Curtis (Gwendolyn) of New Orleans LA, Carl (Traci) of Columbus GA; five daughters Lorenza of New Orleans LA, Rozelia of Baton Rouge LA, Warnetta (Lee) of New Orleans LA, Fannie of Dallas TX, and Eunice of Pikney MS; 35 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eula Bergeron of St. James LA; one brother Roland Jasmin of Oakland CA; sister-in-law Jeannette Richard, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Pleasant and Eunice Marshall, wife Mathilda, two sons Romalice and Estavan; six grandchildren John, Thaddeus, Nathaniel, Elwood, Dustin, Shawn; great granddaughter Randalnia; one sister Margaret Smith and three brothers Clarence Jasmin, Sr., Earl Pleasant, Jr., and Warren Pleasant. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the homegoing celebration at Mt. Salem M. B. C., 2800 1st St., New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, September 28. 2021 at 11:00am.
