Rosalie Graff Obituary

GRAFF Rosalie Madeline Loup Graff, born in New Orleans, La. July 15, 1921 and a resident of Lacombe, La. for the past 30 years, departed this world on Sunday, April 18, 2010 surrounded by that which she treasured most, her loving family. Her husband and soul mate of nearly 70 years, Adam, Jr. was with her along with their children, Adam Henry Graff, III, his wife, Jacqueline, Gail Ann Graff Schmidt with her husband, George, and David Michael Graff. Also there to offer their support and love were their grandchildren Adam, IV with wife Regina, Kristen Elizabeth Graff, Amanda Rosalie Schmidt with partner Kaylyn Ehler and Allison Schmidt with husband Tommy Ardeneaux. She is additionally survived by grandsons Mitchel Paul and Daniel Michael Graff and great-granddaughters, Sarah Anne and Claire Madeline Graff. Rosalie was a truly unique and giving person who never met a stranger and lit up every room with her infectious smile and her bright eyes. She was dedicated to the Virgin Mary to whom she said the Rosary every night. She loved gardening and being surrounded by her flowers and her hummingbirds. She was the sunshine of her family's life. Her departure from this world is a devastating loss from which we will struggle to recover. Rosalie was active with the Bingos held by the Slidell Knights of Columbus Council #2732. She was variously involved with the Bayou Liberty Community Organization, the Happy Hour Senior Citizen's Club, the Elks Lodge # 2321 and the Lacombe Senior Citizens Club. Volunteering with these organizations, she and Adam visited senior citizen's homes, planted gardens for them, visited local nursing homes and played music for them and also dressed as clowns and marched in various parades. She enjoyed doing for those that couldn't do for themselves and was a very giving and generous person. This world is truly a sadder place without her. Her parents Zepherin Joseph Loup and Mary Lena Reeves and brother and sisters Paul, Gloria Montalbano, & Margaret Oswald and half brothers Clarence and Andrew Loup, and half sisters Bertha Stein and Stella Zerangue pre-deceased her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Mass at 1:00p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home,1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, La., immediately followed by a Remembrance Celebration at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 1578 West Hall St. Slidell, La., until 4:00 pm. Donations to your favorite Charity in Rosalie Graff's name are requested in lieu of flowers. She would've liked that. Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell, LA.

Dear Mr. Graff, Gail, and family,
My heart grieves for all of you for surely the world has lost a wonderful and thoughtful person. When I think of Ms. Rosalie, I think of sunshine and joy, for no matter where she went or what she was doing she always brought the sun with her. She was a friend from the first time I met her and I really think that she never met a stranger for she befriended everyone she met. I now the angels in heaven are rejoicing for they have welcomed home their sister. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. If I can be of any help please let me know. I'm sorry I didn't make the service but I just got out the hospital myself thats why I am writing instead. Know that she is greatly missed by me and my family as I am sure she is by yours. Remember, she is always here in the memories and she is as close as a memory also. May God strengthen you in this sorrowful time and make he lighten your heart with the love she gave to you and to others. With heartfelt sympathy,
Love,
Cindy and John Ahrens' and Family
