We will miss our son-in-law, Roy Gernon, more than anyone can know, as he passed away last Friday, June 5th. He was not only a great husband to our daughter, and father and grandfather to our grandchildren and great-grandchild, but he was a wonderful, caring, courteous person as well. He was well liked and respected by all who knew him. When he went back to finish getting his business degree it showed his fortitude. And when he later went back and took courses in computer science to help him get work in the computer field he proved where his talents lay. He worked for the Louisiana Dept of Education helping keep their computer systems working until the cancer took his life. He also helped us with our computer problems many times. In fact I have been saved 3 times in the past 2 weeks by using his tips on solving what looked like unsolvable problems, the latest being yesterday. Our daughter could not have found a better man to be her husband and father to their children, and we were proud of him and will miss him very, very much.

I believe that the gates of heaven have swung open wide for my cousin Roy and he is home and free at last from his suffering. We will grieve and mourn because it is only human but in the deepest reaches of our hearts we know that this life ending on earth is a new beginning in the everlasting kingdom of Heaven.
