I can not find the words to express my sorrow over the loss of Mr. Roy Hoffmann. He was a gentleman, a family man, and a true Christian.

During my time at Archbishop Chapelle, I had the privilege to have have his three granddaughters in attendance--all wonderful girls. This provided me the opportunity to get know Mr. Hoffmann. What an honor for me! One of the greatest experiences I had was to acknowledge him as the LEGEND he truly was at the Chapelle Grandparents' Day.

St. Aloysius and Tulane--it did not get any better than that!

Mr. Roy, you have run the race; you have kept the faith; now go and claim your heavenly prize."Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him."

Roy Hoffmann...easily one of the most gentle and humble people I've ever met. He and my dad played for Gulf Oil in the 50's and wow, what an athlete! But, his athletic acumen pales in comparison to what a GENTLEMAN he was. My prayers to Miss Carol and family. Heaven got a 5 star player and 10 star person. Rest in peace!

My Deepest sympathies. Roy was a True Hero, and there was something very special about him. He had a way of putting you at ease when you conversed with him, yet you knew that here was a special being. I played against him for many years in tennis, and never got the better of him. Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics has lost a key building block, as he was one of the "Founding Fathers" of the organization. I recall him being selected to the LHSAA Hall of Fame, and all of the glory associated with that, but I never heard it from him. He was a quiet, unassuming man whose abilities were best demonstrated rather than discussed. His talk was about the greatness of other people. One of his heroes was long-time friend and contemporary Mel Parnell, the legendary Boston Red Sox pitching phenom.
Roy will always be with us in our harts and minds.

Dear Carol and Family, Pat and I were saddened about Roy's passing. He was a "one of a kind" special person. We were separated by different cities but I always enjoyed our family talks. Loved him and he will be missed.

Roy was one of the finest people I have ever known. What a life well lived! From being a man of faith to being a faithful family man and great friend to my family, words cannot express our appreciation for him. Roy was a marvelous athlete, a terrific official, and a great fan of prep sports. It was an honor to have him working with us at the Saints Hall of Fame Museum in Kenner after his "retirement." Senior Olympics will never be the same. Neither will we. He touched so many lives in profound fashion. Gene, Richie, Eddie and so many more are reunited with their brother, Roy. May God truly bless the wonderful Hoffmann family in their time of need. Roy was a blessing to us all.
