Ruby Seghers Obituary

Mrs. Ruby Nell Vowell Seghers, 90, of New Orleans, LA, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at her home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will also be 9:00 to 10:00 am Saturday, May 12, 2018. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Father Kent Bowlds officiating. Interment will follow in Lehrton Cemetery. Mrs. Seghers was born in Doddsville (Lynn), MS, on November 16, 1927, to Willie Marvin Vowell and Ruby Mae Gibson Vowell. She left Mississippi as a young woman to attend Charity Nursing School in New Orleans. After finishing school, Mrs. Seghers nursed professionally and informally for the rest of her life. While living in New Orleans she met the love of her life, Edgar F. Seghers, Jr., and they married on August 29, 1948. They raised seven children together, and she always made sure to treat each child as their own individual. She greatly enjoyed being a Eucharistic minister, playing in Bridge Clubs, golfing, knitting, traveling, being a hospital volunteer, and staying active in Tiki Club; but most importantly, she enjoyed entertaining her friends, family, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar F. Seghers, Jr.; parents, Willie Marvin Vowell and Ruby Mae Gibson Vowell; two sisters , Imogene Terrell (Franklin) and Margie Powers (Charles); one brother, Jack Vowell; and Brothers in law,Buck Wilkens and Edward Story. Mrs. Seghers is survived by her sons, Edgar F. Seghers, III (Holly) of Schererville, IN, Kenneth M Seghers (Loretta) of Midland, TX, and Gregory V. Seghers (Carlene) of Durban, South Africa; daughters, Patricia A. Seghers of New Orleans, LA, Suzanne M. Seghers Troyano (Paul) of New Orleans, LA, Cynthia N. Seghers RePass of New Orleans, LA, and Kathryn A. Seghers Naman (Alec) of Mobile, Al; and grandchildren, Kate (Todd), Amy (Dusty), Garrett, Madison, Justin (Kimberly), Kristin (Brett), Ryne (Amy), Corbin (Madeline), Kyle, Danny (Caylie), Ruby, Elizabeth (Nick), Francis, Sarah (Simon), Eleanor, Tony, Greg, and Joshua; Great Grandchildren, Dominic, Braelyn, Tyler, Dylan, Hailey, Estelle, Austyn, Britton (Katherine), Caden, Kindall, William; a Great Great Grandchild Everly; sister, Nita Wilkens; brother James Vowell (Lady Jane); and sister-in-law, Jo Vowell. Pallbearers will be Ed Seghers, III, Pat Seghers, Sue Troyano, Ken Seghers, Cindy RePass, Greg Seghers, and Kathy Naman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Ruby Nell Vowell Seghers to Lehrton Cemetery Maintenance Corporation : P.O. Vi played. Bridge with Nell for many years in Aurora Gardens .where I still live. I was sorry to learn of her passing. May she rest in the peace of Heaven. Fondly, Joel Conrad
