Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ruth Mae Crider, dearly departed on July 22, 2024. Ruth was 95 years old. She was the heart of her family.
Ruth was born on August 21, 1928, to Rosalee and Will Conn. She married the love of her life, Colonel J Crider, Sr. They were married for 50 years. To their union, 10 children were born. Ruth's children and grandchildren were the pride of her life. Ruth retired from the Illinois Veterans Home.
Ruth loved to shop, and she had a passion for hand crafts. She also enjoyed cultural events, traveling, reading and socializing. Ruth will be missed by many. Her many stories, her laughter, her concern for her children and grandchildren will be forever etched in our hearts. Her love and legacy will be cherished forever.
Ruth is survived by 8 children who will truly miss her: Donna Briggins, Cynthia (Jewell) Jones, Colonel (Lisa) Crider Jr., Adrienne (John) Oliver, Raefeal Crider, Stefan Crider, Michele (Hermann) Resinger, Kevin Crider, along with several nieces and nephews. Ruth was also blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-great-grandchildren, and daughters-in-law.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Rosalee and Will Conn; her husband, Colonel Crider; her sister, Bertha Scott; brothers, Rev. William and Mac Conn; daughter, Rosemary Crider Moore; son, Zachary Crider, and 4 grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hansen Spear Funeral Home.
Services: 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Hansen Spear Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Will Shepherd, Minister. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.
