Sam Piro Obituary
Sam Piro, a retired owner and operator of Piro Pest Control for over 30 years died on November 3, 2002 approximately 10:00 p.m. at his home in Mandeville, LA. He was 82 years old. Upon his death he was surrounded by his wife Catherine, daughter Cindy, whom he lived with, and two beloved grandchildren Christine and Eric. Beloved husband of Catherine Aloisio Piro, who is formerly of Patterson, LA, almost 52 years. He was also the son of the late Nicholas Piro and Rosa DiPaola Piro, originally from Sicily, Italy. Mr. Piro was born in Mangham, LA. Mr. Piro enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1940 to 1945 and re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949 as a member of ''The Mighty Eighth'' Air Force. His first tour of duty, a part of the 15th Bombardment Squadron Light U.S. Army Air Force, and part of the European Theatre War. The second enlistment served in the Pacific Theatre. Also a member of VFW Post #8720, Abita Springs, LA, a past member of Louisiana Pest Control Association. Brother of: Virginia S. Glorioso (deceased), Gladys S. Edwards (deceased), ''Millie'' S. DiPaola of New York, Russell ''Sam'' Serio (deceased), Rosa P. Moyers of Texas, Conchetta P. Musmeci of Folsom, LA and Sara P. Palmer of New York. Mr. Piro is also survived by his six children: Rose P. Gennaro of Harahan, Cynthia ''Cindy'' P. LeBlanc of Mandeville, Robert N. Piro of Slidell, Mary P. Meranta of Woodbridge, VA, Anna P. Coppedge of Lawrenceville, GA, and Janet P. Cambre-Bray of Covington. He was the grandfather to ten grandchildren: Christine LeBlanc Allen, Eric N. LeBlanc, Jessica Meranta, Jennifer Piro, Matthew Gennaro, Mark Meranta, Nicholas Piro, Allison Meranta, Julie Coppedge, and Mason Bray. Also a great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren: Christopher David Ward, Joshua Samuel Allen, Sean Christopher Garvey, Breanna Rose LeBlanc, Olivia Weinstein-LeBlanc, and Katelyn Marie Allen. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation Funeral Services at L.A. MUHLEISEN & SON at 2929 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70001 on Wednesday, November 6, evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Thursday, November 7, visitation at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Immediately following will be a Funeral Mass Celebration and Interment in Garden of Memories.
