Samuel Barton Stewart

STEWART Samuel Barton Stewart, III passed away quietly at home on January 11, 2014 at the age of 76. Loving husband of Shirley Garland Stewart for 26 years. He was a loving father of the late Samuel B. Stewart, IV, and Laura Stewart. He is survived by his mother Ruth Collins Stewart, and his sister Susan Stewart Thorburn (Douglas). He was pre-deceased by his father Samuel Barton Stewart, Jr. Barton was a native New Orleanian and graduated from Warren Easton High School class of 1956. He was an active businessman, and owner and operator of 103 year old Stewart's of Bourbon St. and Stewart's Lighting on Carrollton Ave and then on Veterans Blvd. He was active in many civic associations. Barton loved hunting and fishing, and socializing with his friends. Arrangements include: Visitation at 11am and Funeral Mass at 1pm on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Burial to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Mass in celebration of Barton's life and work.
