1932 - 2018

Sam Woods entered his heavenly home on Sunday, November 11, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born on April 12, 1932, Sam was a native of New Orleans, LA and resided in Lacombe, LA with his love of 65 years, Louise Oncale Woods, and his canine best friend "The Spark". He was a self-made entrepreneur that enjoyed making money and providing for his family. He was a loving father to 6 children, the late Samuel "Sammy" Woods, III, Pamela "Pam" Hernandez (Jerry), Kenneth "Kenny" Woods, Linda Atkins, Diana Hernandez (Leslie), and Jimi Woods. He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren: Samuel "Sam" Rufus Woods, IV (Angie), Brittany Woods Wood (BT), Lana Woods Labourdette (Leo), Lindsey Woods Dimm (Kevin), Chelsea Hernandez Chamberlain (Rusty), Jesse Hernandez, Dawn Desadier Harwell (Greg), Kelly Woods King (Dave), Terry "TJ" Bonnette Jr., Cody Bonnette, Tyler Bonnette (Jessica), Garrett Hernandez (Jessica), Trent Hernandez, Travis Hernandez, and Noah Woods. He was a wonderful grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren: Amelia Woods, Ruby Woods, Aspen Wood, Lennon Labourdette, Leo Labourdette IV, Sawyer Dimm, Theodore "Theo" Chamberlain, Tucker Chamberlain, Gage Desadier, Kailey Walters, Ayden King, Makenna King, Finley Bonnette, Cohen Bonnette, Bayleigh Bonnette, Brooklyn Hernandez, Leah Hernandez, and Travis Hernandez Jr. Sam also had the honor of having one great-great granddaughter, Ameriya Desadier. Sam was preceded in death by his mother Leonice "Louise" Couvillion Goudeaux Woods Theode and his father Samuel Rufus Woods Sr. He had three brothers: the late L.J. Goudeaux, the late Donald Woods, and Robert "Bob Woods (Glenn Rae). He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Sam will be dearly missed by all. Relatives and friends of Sam are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Trinity Church 19380 N. 10th Street, Covington, LA 70433, at 10am, followed by a service at 11am. We will celebrate Sam's life after the service from 12pm - 2pm.
