Sarah Theresa Calmes "Sally" Fucich

Sarah (Sally) Theresa Calmes Fucich passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at home at the age of 89, preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald R. Fucich and grandson Trent Wise Fucich. She is survived by her children David Fucich (Ellen), Mark Fucich (Judy), and Sarae Fucich Wilthew (David deceased), her grandchildren Courtney Fucich, Dominique Wilthew Riewoldt (Charlie), Sidney Ann Fucich Cifreo (John), Camille Wilthew Dupuis (Jon), and Rachel Fucich Wood (Christian), and her great-grandchildren John Hewitt Cifreo and Caroline Grace Cifreo. She was born in New Orleans to John Wise Calmes and Ernestine Bergeron Calmes on July 19, 1934. Sally was educated at Ursuline Academy and Tulane University, graduating with a degree in, Accounting. She worked part time as an accountant to insure all three of her children could benefit from a Catholic Education. Sally will be remembered for her heartfelt hospitality, her unfaltering Catholic Faith, and, most importantly, her ardent, fierce love for her family, immediate and extended, and friends. Her selflessness and loyalty were amazing and inspiring and we will miss her more than imaginable. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally, will miss their "Granny" due to her guidance, patience, and her generous heart. She was our sweetest "dawlin'" and we look forward to seeing her again with God in Heaven. Visitation at ten in the morning on Monday, January 8, with a Catholic mass to follow at twelve-noon. The location is St. Angela Merici, Catholic Church, 835 Melody Drive, Metairie. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to Ursuline Academy or the charity of your choice.
