Sarah Frances Weatherford Perry

Mrs. Sarah Frances Weatherford Perry, of Charlotte, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, February 26, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Westmoreland Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Cloninger officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.
Mrs. Perry was born August 8, 1926 in Hartsville, SC, daughter of the late James Matthew and Viola Atkinson Weatherford. She was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church, formerly, Greenland Avenue Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years at her churches. Mrs. Perry was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and WMU, graduated from Polkville High School, Polkville, NC, was formerly with Union Carbide and retired from Allied Bendix. She always cared and visited the sick and shut-ins in her church and community.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Lewis L. Perry; daughters and spouses, Donna and Gary McGill of Catawba, NC and Karen and Keith Allen of Charlotte; grandchildren, Gary Wayne McGill, Jr. of Hickory, NC, Michelle Null and husband, Stephen of Conover, NC and Cliff Allen of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth and Jeremy Ryan Null; sisters, Margaret Peeler and Mary Pruett of Lawndale, NC; brothers, Charles Weatherford of Bessemer City, NC and Buddy Weatherford of Shelby, NC. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Swink and Gladys Mode and brothers, Hallie, Leslie, Wilbert and Glease Weatherford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westmoreland Baptist Church Road Fund, 3205 Sam Wilson Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. Pallbearers will be Tom Knight, Bill Fincher, John Kelly, Hershell Porter, Bill Luther, and Wayne Blalock.
