Scott Frank Obituary

On December 1, 2022, at the age of 48, Scott "Scooter" Brian Frank passed away after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Blackman Frank, and son, Sterling Harrison Frank. Scott is a son of Eddie and Ellen Frank of Baltimore, MD; son-in-law of Dr. Harris and Bonnie Blackman of Metairie, LA; brother of BJ and Mary Frank; brother-in-law of Valerie and Alan Posner; uncle of Corinne and Tillie Posner and Audrey and Graham Frank. Scooter was a native of Baltimore, MD, and moved to New Orleans in 2010. He loved living in New Orleans and never missed a Mardi Gras parade or the opportunity to try out a hot new restaurant. Scooter graduated from Boys' Latin School of Maryland in 1993, and Syracuse University in 1997 with a Bachelor's Degree in Food Studies. Scooter worked his entire career in the specialty food industry spending the last 8 years as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Rustic Bakery out of Petaluma, California. Scott was a mentor and helped launch the career of many friends and family in the gourmet food world. He was a true friend to all of his colleagues, vendors, and customers. The outpouring of support from his fancy food community has been a comfort to his family during this difficult time. Family was everything to Scooter. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with Rachel and Sterling building LEGO, perusing a car museum, traveling together or laughing at an irreverent joke. Scott hosted many joyous holidays and made Sunday dinner with the family a top priority. He showed his love through a beautifully curated meal. He always cooked more than his headcount to ensure anyone who wanted leftovers had a care package when they left. His meals were over the top; they were always picturesque and magazine worthy. His guests always wanted to know what was going to be on the menu and Scooter never disappointed. The family would like to thank all the kind people at Ochsner Hospital particularly the 8th floor oncology team and Dr. Jon Mizrahi for his unwavering support, care, attention and devotion. As a lover of food and a person who found such joy in the food industry, donations in Scott's honor can be made to Cafe Reconcile at 1631 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70113.

I was so saddened to hear of Scott's passing. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. I will miss Scott's help when selecting my gifts for my business clients, friends and family. I was always overwhelmed, but because he was always cheerful and helpful, he put my mind at ease. Rest in peace Scott. Gone too soon.
