Seth R. Trahan Obituary

Seth R. Trahan's phone calls with his father were routine in their simple emotions. "I'd always tell him, 'I love you, Bub,'" recalled Randy Trahan. "He'd say, 'I love you, Dad.' I'd say 'I'm proud of you.' He'd say, 'Thank you, sir.'" Trahan, 20, of Crowley, La., died Feb. 19 by a bomb while on patrol in Baghdad. He was stationed in Crowley. "I truly believe with my whole heart that his whole mission was accomplished on Earth," said his mother, Emma Trahan. "We're broken, we're sad, but we're at peace." Seth Trahan was an active member of Northside Assembly of God, where his father is an associate pastor and his mother teaches in the church school. He was a 2002 high school graduate and was majoring in criminal justice at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. "Seth was a leader," said his church pastor, Loyd Singley. "He would lead his squad in prayer as they would go out on a mission. You'll hear many stories about Seth's impact on his fellow soldiers." In one e-mail, Seth wrote: "Every time I put on this uniform I take pride in it because I love the American flag on my right shoulder."

I went to school with Seth..... He was a great man, friend, and team mate who always had a positive attitude and a sideways smile. He was much milder and quiet than most of us that played ball with him, but was still a leader and a fine example for all of us to follow.

His father, Brother Randy, made the decision to allow my 2 older brothers and I to attend NCS, despite the enrollment for our 3 grade levels already being at capacity that year. We anxiously waited to hear if we'd be accepted into NCS that year, and I still remember the ole landline phone ringing at our house one evening. Seeing Brother Randy's # on the caller ID, I quickly answered. I was absolutely elated and could hardly contain myself when he told me we had been accepted! Little did I know what an impact that decision would have on me over the next 4 years, and ultimately, a lifetime. It's both an honor and a privilege to say that I know/knew these 2 fine men.
Seth, the world was a better place with you in it buddy. You are still missed and remembered so many years later.
Brother Randy, thank you for allowing my brothers and I to attend NCS, and the opportunity to spend 4 years under your watch, and influence...... one thing you did that absolutely blew me away, and I will never forget, was at the end of our Senior year, just before graduation, you had the whole class sitting in chairs in a room, and 1 by 1, you got down on your hands and knees, and washed our feet while praying for us....... that moment was so emotional and spiritual, and had a lasting impact on my life. Now, almost 25 years later, I still carry that memory with me. I can't tell you how grateful and honored I am to have had the privilege of having you as my high school principal. Seth was cut from that same cloth, and a great man was lost the day he left us. I think so highly of you both, and promise to never forget.

Respectfully,
Tommy Stollsteimer

To this day I do not know why a good person, like Seth, had to die out there and a person, like myself, did not. I have never met a nicer guy or family for that matter. I still remember seeing Seth's face in the chow hall. Instantly I would go back to my childhood when I had attended a basketball camp with Seth. That's how I still remember my friend. It has been 4 years and I still think about you.

Hello,
I am really bad with names, but I met Seth's mom today at my work. After seeing my pin, she knew of my loss, a loss she and I both shared. I hope you find this site, so many people have remembered your son and I have found it a comfort reading about my Jeremiah in here when people leave messages. Your son was obviously well loved. I want to send whatever heartfelt comfort these words can. Congrats on the birth of your twin grandsons and thank you for reaching out to me. It meant so very much. There is something about that shared bond and having another mother to weep with.
God Bless you,
Laurie McGlone,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
