SFC Walton Obituary

Sergeant First Class Reginald Joseph Walton, a retired Army Veteran passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the age of sixty-five. He was born on October 15, 1956, in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia. Reginald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles James Walton, Sr. and Hazel Woods Walton Victor, his paternal grandparents Samuel and Isabella Walton, his maternal grandparents Charles and Mildred Woods and his maternal great-grandmother, Velma Breaux Grady Lado. Reginald spent his younger years in the city that he loved, New Orleans! He received his education in Orleans Parish Public Schools and after completing his education, he joined the United States Army where he served and retired after twenty-six years. His last assignment was in Columbus, GA where he made his home. In April of 2022, he moved to Stone Mountain, GA where he resided with his brother Charles, Jr. when his health began to fail. Reginald served honorably in Granada, the Middle Eastern Conflict, as well as Desert Storm. He was a recipient of the Bronze and Silver Star and was held in high regards by his brothers at arms. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class. His life will forever continue through everyone whose lives he touched. He never met a stranger, Loved the New Orleans Saints, telling 'tales' and fighting, which was later channeled into boxing! Reginald was also a member of the United States All Army Boxing Team and once competed against Ray Mercer. He loved to cook and always believed he was 'the best'! He leaves to cherish his loving memories three siblings: Karen Walton Washington of Dallas, TX, Charles James Walton, Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA and Sheryl Walton Rodriguez of New Orleans, LA.; one son, Ro'Shaun Gilmore (Monique); a bonus brother, Derrick Stafford; two bonus sons, James Jones, and Damien Ruffin; one bonus daughter, LaShonda Jones, two uncles: Bishop Joseph Walton (Barbara) and Charles Wilson (Sheila), as well as five grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. The family of the Late SFC Reginald Joseph Walton would like to thank Majestic Mortuary Service Inc., Emory North Decatur Hospital Staff, DaVita Mountain Park (Stone Mountain, GA), Houston's Franklin Avenue BC, Greater St. Stephen FGBC, and the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Majestic Mortuary Services, Inc. 1833 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. in New Orleans on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. with funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Shannon L. Verrett, Officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA. Thinking of you, Bro, I miss you so much. I´m having a hard time with this. I know you´re in a better place but the tears keep flowing.
