Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard A. Ellis (2002) and son Richard A. Ellis, Jr. (1975). Her creative and artistic talents came through in her involvement with the family-owned retail chain of stores known as the College-Hi Shops, her volunteer work at Sutter Auxiliary, Cancer League, Junior League and Sacramento Children's Home Casa Garden restaurant. She had a passion for gardening and love of entertaining. Shirley made her home at Campus Commons Senior Community for the last 13 years where her activities included book club, bean bag toss and using her green thumb talents to enhance the garden. So sad to learn of Shirley's passing. She was a special friend to us over many years. As our lives got busy, it was always a happy time to see her and catch up on our lives. Although it has been some time since our last seeing each other, Shirley will remain in our hearts.

My family and I are saddened by the passing of Shirley, a dear friend of so many years. My children loved going to the Ellis home for Easter celebrations, where they always had the most giant Bunny Rabbit to lead the egg hunt and pass out treats. Wonderful memories of time spent with Dick and Shirley's family. My loving thoughts are with all of you.
