Stephanie O'Neil Obituary

Stephanie Brown O'Neil of Metairie, Louisiana, age 66, left this beautiful earth on Wednesday, July 12 2017 to join her parents, Esther Quartano Brown, and Perry Henry Brown in eternal life with the Lord. She leaves on earth her lifetime companion, Millie Tizzard, a sister, Perrilyn Hutcherson (Bo), two nieces, Lindsey Neal (Justin), and Kyle Coste (Micah) along with three grand nephews, Alexander, Asher and Augustine Neal. Stephanie was a graduate of Archbishop Blenk High School in 1969. She was employed by DHHR, Office of Family Support as an Administrative Secretary and retired in 1995 with over 26 years of service. She was able to enjoy many beautiful trips in her travels at an early age due to her early retirement and as she worked. Stephanie enjoyed life and the people that came into her life and was no stranger to anyone. She had many passions and hobbies in her day. She loved researching her genealogy and spent many a day doing this research learning about her ancestors. She was the ISAAC (International Silver Art Bar Association) club historian for several years and wrote many fine articles for the printed bi-monthly 'TheBugle' as well as collecting silver art bars. Stephanie loved to collect antique pocket watches and wear them with the beautiful fob chains and charms she amassed as well as vintage wristwatches spending much of her time researching monograms with dates and/or names on the watches. She was a member of NAWCC (National Association of Watch & Clock Colletors), as well as our local chapter creole 43. She was also the moderator for an internet Horology Society for a few years enjoying researching her collection of antique pocket watches and vintage wristwatches as well as enjoying articles she wrote. Stephanie loved to garden, collecting many unusual and exotic plants from near and far as well as photographing their blooms. Her plants were the heartbeat in her daily life as she enjoyed the vast beauty and wonder of plants. What a beautiful and rewarding hobby she enjoyed. Stephanie loved animals and raised a Shih-Tzu named Ming, a Snoodle named Lacey and her dearest and last of all, Holly, our Peek-A-Poo along the way. What a loving and adorable dog Holly was. Stephanie was a member of the Louisiana Humane Society as well as our local society. She will dearly be missed by many. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM. You were always the kindest soul among us during a time of genuine enlightenment and growing-up. A time that can only be shared by true friendships of young girls growing into young women. A time in my life I will carry with me for always. My sweet friend, we will meet again.

I too, met Stephanie at the Welfare Office in East Jefferson, Louisiana, where I worked while attending Evening Social Work Graduate school, in the early 90's.

Right away, Stephanie took me under her wing, making sure everything was just so. I am so grateful I had the priviledge of being her friend.

Stephanie was one of those special people who, if you were lucky, left a distinct impression on your soul.

Millie, I cannot even imagine how difficult these last few years have been for you, particularly with the fairly recent loss of Ms. Esther. Sending you many heartfelt thoughts and prayers.

Perrilyn, and family, I'm so very sorry for your loss, too. While we haven't previously met, your sister spoke very fondly of you and your beautiful family.

Stephanie, you were so special, and so funny! I've found myself remembering funny things you said or did, and chuckling out loud. You friend, will be missed dearly by so many. Until we meet again. Rest In Peace, Stephanie.

Millie, I don't know you but I graduated from Blenk with Stephanie. I remember her fondly as a funny and caring young woman who was a delight to be around. I am so sorry for your loss. I too, lost my life-time companion 7 years ago so I personally know the grief you will go through. It is a hard road to travel, but remember to try and think of all the good times you and Stephanie had together. It helps.

Millie, My thoughts and prayers are with you as you endure a terrible loss. Your relationship with Steph has stood through BOTH of my marriages which is a testament to the great love, respect and patience you shared. Although saddened, I am thankful for so many years of memories filled with FUN and laughter that we shared. Looking forward to partying in the sky with you guys one day...one of the few places we haven't been together :) Hugs and Love, Dotty

Millie, Perrilyn and Family,
I am so sad to hear about Stephanie's passing. We shared many memories working together at the Welfare department, and she kept in touch with Leroy and I even after that. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. My thoughts and prayers to all of you.
