Stephen Davis Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Lockwood Davis on October 18, 2024, at the age of 66. Born in New Orleans, LA, Stephen was educated at Sam Barthe Grammar School and St. Paul's High School and attended the University of Southeastern Louisiana after which he served in the United Stated Navy. After he married his sweetheart, Penny, they settled and raised their two children in Hammond, LA. Being passionate about electronics and music, he founded a very successful audio/visual and entertainment business and later traveled across the globe with prominent music productions for James Taylor, Hannah Montana, Aerosmith, Kiss, the Dixie Chicks, and others. He was also a master chef at the art of deep-frying turkeys and served them to the neighborhood every Thanksgiving. After Hurricane Katrina, the family moved out to Boulder, Colorado where he spent the remainder of his life enjoying long nature walks and panoramic mountain views with his much-adored wife and children. Stephen was a gentle giant, very knowledgeable but somewhat reserved, with a spry sense of humor; most of all, he deeply cared about his family and friends. Stephen was a loving husband, father, brother, and son and is survived by his wife Penny Ross Davis, children Stephen Lockwood Davis, Jr. and Lauren Ross Crawford, daughter-in-law Kimberly Elise Davis, son-in-law Cody Matthew Crawford, grandchildren Madison Grace and Andrew Nathan, brothers Alton Ochsner Davis and Allen Pinkerton Davis, and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in passing by his father and mother, Eugene Allen Davis and Isabel Ochsner Mann. All were greatly enriched by Stephen's presence and his departure leaves an unfillable void, yet we find comfort in the memories and everlasting love we shared. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Boulder County Audubon Society, P.O. Box 2081, Boulder, CO 80306, www.boulderaudubon.org.

In 1999 I came back to full time touring after a few years away with my own production company. Nocturne video handed me KISS and a new engineer named Steven Davis. Steve and I were a pair for the better part of the next 7 years. We made a good team.Kept a lot of tours on the tracks. Steve was a good engineer, the rig was always show ready. Steve went on to Direct and Engineer for a few more years but slowly pulled away from touring. He then wanted to stay home more and take care of Penny his wife who has had cancer for many years. He was deeply devoted to her and that kept him on track. Steve had a really brash side, but it was never in a mean way. He was funny and sarcastic, so we got along perfect. His heart was ever so big and kind... that is what I will always remember about him. Those that spent anytime with him knew that. Rest easy my friend. My memories of you will always be fond and filled with love. Pray for Penny as she deals with her immense loss.

Penny, Lock and Lauren, pops will always have a place in my heart. I thought about him often, I did reach out just recently. And my I´m completely sadden by the loss of my friend. Steve use to call me his road child, and I was.... I´m sure you heard many stories about me. I will never forget him and will miss him dearly..... Penny you were his pride and joy..... and I felt like I was one of his children. He sure was a ball buster and I got some of the heat. But he is the reason I made it this far in the industry

I was very sad to learn about Stephen's passing, as although we hadn't seen each other in too many years, I enjoyed a fun friendship with him back in our school days. Stephen was always a pleasure to be with, and it is comforting to know that he lived his life to the fullest. RIP Stephen, and my sincere condolences to his grieving family.

I got a great kick out of your great sense of humor about things you found absurd with that mirthful cheekines and everpresent smile that gave me the impression that you were always ahead of the game but were waiting for the rest of us to figure whatever it was out for ourselves, you sly rascal. Enjoy Paradise, keep amusing our friends on the other side, play those keyboards and tell a few of your cousins I say HI and I'll always keep them in my heart too until I happen to show up fashionably late for the party. Save me a good seat with s nice view my friend. I would be honored if you would be one of my guardian angels until we meet again, then the treat's on me, buddy! Love ya, man...

So many wonderful childhood memories with Stephen. He was a great friend over the years and we drifted apart but were reacquainted through the music business. We had lots of laughs telling stories about the good ole days! Knowing he is no longer here makes me sad but it also makes me appreciate his friendship and the fun times we had together! May he RIP.

Another good one gone. Steven was always eager to help anyone that came into the store HobbyTown, if he didn't know the answer he would find it for you and learn something new along the way. Rest in Peace Steven. We will all miss you!
