Susan Ann Simon

Susan Ann Simon was born to the late Vincent Williams and Rose Mary Espadron. She was also the daughter of the late Raymond Espadron, Sr. and Hilda Williams. She was the devoted wife of 22 years to Dave Simon. After a courageous battle, "Suzy", as she was affectionately referred to by family and friends, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 25, 2019. Susan grew up in Pointe-ala-Hache, Louisiana and later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she received her high school diploma from Francis T. Nicholls High School. During her time there, Susan met her life-long friend Leatrice Warren. She experienced ultimate joy when she gave birth to her daughters, Anisha and Delica. Susan instilled the love of family, education, and a strong sense of independence in her daughters. She raised them to be respectful, faithful, and God-fearing women. She loved traveling to be with her girls, no matter where they were. Susan entered into holy matrimony with Dave Simon in 1996. Together, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends and dancing the night away. Their most enjoyable experiences were traveling cross-country in their RV visiting many different areas of the United States. Many weeks, starting in August, they would travel with their fellow football crew to tailgate at Southern University football games. They were very proud of the boys in blue and gold. Susan spent her career as a police officer at Louisiana State University Medical Center. She was dedicated to her profession and served the community for over 30 years. She was also a loyal member of Cornerstone Christian Center under the leadership of Pastors James "Jimmy" and Frances Autry. Susan had a profound faith in God and a dedicated prayer life which became the mainstay of her life. She never lost sight of God's faithfulness. To know "Suzy" was to absolutely love her. Her smile was radiant enough to light up any room. Her infectious spirit consumed all she encountered. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Mary Espadron, her father, Vincent Williams, her step-father, Raymond Espadron, Sr., her sisters, Helen Griffin and Carolyn Encalade and her brother, Kerry Williams. Susan leaves to cherish her fondest memories her husband, Dave Simon, her daughters Dr. Anisha Roussel and Delica Austin (Joel), her step-daughters Felicia Simon and Shante Childs (Bilaal), her grandchildren Lillian and Kaitlyn Hardy, Jada Roussel, Iyanna and Micah Austin, De'Ja Sawyer, Marquise Guitroz, Bilaal, Jr., Khalil, and Omari Childs, her sisters Rose Griffin (Clarence), Peggy Williams (Vernon, Sr.), Marlena Cowart (Edward, Jr.), Stacey Williams, and Elizabeth Williams, her Godsons Vernon Williams, Jr. and Jawan Bentley and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Cornerstone Christian Center are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Cornerstone Christian Center, 6550 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA 70072 on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
