To: Kim, Ricky & The Bereaved Family,
Mrs. Sylvia Turner will always remain in my heart and mind, as one of the most impressionable adults of my high school years. When I saw her in 2008, it was the first time I had seen her, since our days at McDonogh #35 Senior High School, in the early to mid-70s. Periodically, I had received messages from or about her, but we had not seen one another in person; when we finally did, it was as though no time had elapsed, at all. She was still that same, beautiful, sassy, and classy lady...the one who coerced me into joining her Library Club, in my senior year of high school.
She mentored so many and befriended even more. Hers was a life well lived. May her Celebration of Life, mirror her remarkable life and times. I will forever cherish and fondly retain our times together.
May you, her natural family, and the family she fostered in her lifetime, be comforted in knowing that you will see her again. May the joy of the Lord be your strength at this time, as He lifts up His countenance on you, and gives you His peace that surpasses understanding.

I have very fond memories of working with your mother at Xavier Prep. Dedicated and consummate educator that she was, she truly left her mark when she transformed the school library into the "Media Center" to better serve our students. She was a true gem!

My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Those we love can never be more than a thought away. For as long as there's a memory they live in our hearts to stay. Kim and Ricky your mother had a beautiful heart and lovely smile. I remember your parents looking sharp on date night. She called on me to babysit many times and it was always my pleasure.

She was one of the best educators at Chester school. As a kid she was one of the best. I later met her at a Xavier Prep function. We have lost a giant as woman, educator and good person.
