Sister Sylvia Vallet

Sister Sylvia (nee Mary Sylvia), daughter of the late, Theophile Vallet & Marie Mitchell-Vallet entered eternal life on June 28, 2022. Sr. Sylvia was born in Lakeland, Louisiana and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family on September 8, 1956. She professed First vows on March 19, 1959, and Perpetual vows on March 19, 1964. As a Sister of the Holy Family, Sister Sylvia served God and his people in Louisiana in the ministry of housekeeping at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans and Immaculata Seminaries in Lafayette. She also served at Lafon Nursing Facility, St. John Berchmans Manor, St. John Berchmans Center and the Motherhouse here in New Orleans. She did arts & crafts with the residents at Lafon Nursing Facility and served as activity director at Holy Ghost School in New Orleans. Sister Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her nephews: David Patin, Emery Patin, Gerard Dorgan, and Clarence Vallet; nieces: Janice Patin, Cynthia Patin, Ann Dorgan, Veronica Dorgan, Bernadine Dorgan, Alma Ricard, Philomena Ricard, Vera Ricard, Jean Vallet, and Joan Vallet. She will be truly missed by family, friends, and Religious sisters. Funeral arrangements are Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of the Holy Family 6901 Chef Menteur Hwy. Visitation begins at 8:00 a.m. Wake services begin at 9:15 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment at St. Louis Cemetery #2.
