Theodore Lorenz Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Lorenz Jr. passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2022 with his wife, Sandra at his bedside. He had celebrated his 92nd birthday the previous week. Ted was born on August 6, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas to Theodore Charles Lorenz, Sr. and Thelma Guthrie Lorenz. He was the middle child and the only son with five sisters. He was raised on the family farm in Waco, TX. Ted is survived by his wife, Sandra Dunn Lorenz; his daughters, Robbi West (Rodney) and Shannon Becnel (Todd); his grandchildren, Jeremiah Lorenz, Laura Dean, Blake, Savannah and Sophia Becnel; and great grandchildren, Colston and Hollis Kayte Lorenz and Lillie and Adalyn Dean. He is also survived by his sisters, Theo Pilot and Alta Powers. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jacqueline McClinton, Marilyn Joyce Lyles and Olivia Lorenz; his son, Barry Charles Lorenz; and his grandson, Joshua Charles Lorenz. Ted graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Accounting. He began his career as an Accountant at Bryan Hospital but was later promoted to Hospital Administrator. He worked in that capacity for the next 40 years in hospitals in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He and his family moved to Covington, Louisiana in 1979 where he assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer at Highland Park Hospital where he remained until 1988. He and his wife had fallen in love with the Covington area and upon his retirement they returned to make it their permanent home. Ted loved deer hunting, trout fishing with his brother-in-law, Benny, vacationing in the mountains, all Texas A & M sports, especially "Aggie Football" and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He attended St. Peter's Catholic Church and St. Joseph Abbey. He was active in civic and charitable organizations throughout his life, most recently he served on the Advisory Board of St. Tammany Council on Aging where he remained an active participant until COVID restrictions resulted in their closing. Ted was a wonderful friend, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank St. Tammany Hospice for their care and support during this extremely difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at E. J.
