Theodore L. Schmidt

Theodore L. Schmidt (Teddy), aged 96, died Sunday, June 27, 2021 surrounded by his three living children Meg (Chris) Allen, Richard Schmidt and Carolyn (Mark) Hentschell at Alexian Village on Signal Mountain, TN. He is also survived by his two stepsons, Kemp and Nelson Heumann, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sisters Gussie Schmidt Ryan and Gretchen Schmidt Kirsch. Mr. Schmidt lost his wife, Marylee Kemp Schmidt on February 26, 2022 and their ashes will be interred together. He is preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Ann Brodie Schmidt, his son Theodore L. Schmidt, Jr, his parents William B. Schmidt Jr and Gussie Jaubert Schmidt along with five brothers and sisters. Mr. Schmidt was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Chattanooga, TN in 2007 after he lost his home to the flooding of Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Schmidt was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey fighting in the Pacific. He recalled his time serving as one of the great times of his life in a shared mission to fight for his country and freedom around the world. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be sorely missed. There will be a service for Teddy and Marylee Schmidt on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be following with immediate family.
