Theresa Morris Obituary

Theresa Rovaris Morris, a life-long resident of New Orleans, Louisiana until she moved to Lake City, Florida in 2014, received her angel wings on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She was born to the late Jules Rovaris, Sr. and Pearl Foster Rovaris on April 21, 1928 in Spanish Fort, New Orleans, Louisiana. Theresa moved to the 7th Ward with her family as a child and attended elementary school at Valena C. Jones and Corpus Christi. Theresa graduated from Xavier University Preparatory High School. She attended cosmetology school and Straight Business College. Theresa was a long-time seamstress at Rutter-Rex Manufacturers and Rubenstein Brothers men's clothing store. Theresa worked tirelessly in many Catholic Church parishes across New Orleans, including Epiphany, Corpus Christi, Our Lady Star of the Sea and St. James Major. She was a member of the Altar Society and Sodality of Our Lady. In the 1970s, Theresa volunteered with Junior Daughters as well as Girl Scouts of America; and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader at Corpus Christi. Theresa never met a stranger. She enjoyed socializing, eating good food, traveling, going to movies and hanging out with family and friends. She was always kind, peaceful and caring. Theresa had an amazing smile that could light up a room. She believed in helping others, would give her last to anyone in need, and dedicated her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Pearl Rovaris; her husband, Whitney Morris, Sr.; her sisters, Bernadine Rovaris Irving and Lydia Rovaris Valeary; and brother, Jules Rovaris, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Whitney Leo Morris, Jr. (Lake City, FL), Kim Theresa Morris Lee (Chicago, IL), and Keith Andrew Morris (New Orleans, LA); son-in-law, Kevin Lee; sister-in-law, Mary D. Rovaris; seven grandchildren, Keith A. Morris, II, Kristina Johnson, Kaitlyn Morris, Kieron Morris, Conner Morris, Abiyah Morris and Kendall Lee; four great grandchildren, Maya, Klyla, Kleib and Kloea; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
