A true friend and beloved shipmate. Its been almost 20 years since he went home. 25 since I hugged his neck. A day has not gone by that I have not remembered him.
And his laugh.......He loved laughter and the lighter moments. Id hear him approaching our adjacent offices and call out in my best Irish, "Top of the marnin t'ya Dr Hawley!" He'd answer "and the rest of the day to you, my good sir." As with all of us, there is so much to say. We all carry a little bit of Art Hawley with us.
I always remember him when doing something nice for someone. He was the most compassionate and empathetic human I have ever met. A big man with a Heart to match.
And the wall sign by his desk: "God heals, and the Doctor takes the fee".
Love you all.

Jane, I was fortunate enough to know Art and fully experience the love he had for you. It was apparent in the way he looked at life, prioritized what you held close to your heart, and never underestimated the power of a dynamic couple. I will miss him dearly and cherish the small interludes I shared with him either when he taught part of your class, the brunch you hosted when I came in town, or the simple wonder of him sweeping the neutral ground for Kristina's wedding. Never in my life have I seen a love like yours. May your heart take comfort. All my love, Ali

Doc.never one time showed any signs that he was having his own medical problems.I want to thank all of his family for having a great, and loving caring father that touched my life and showed me some of his wisdom.

I know the pain of loosing a father for I lost my own right befor Ivan.As he was working so hard to help others he was loosing his own life.My prayers are with you all he will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Hawley, I am the Provider Rep for LWCC and met Dr. Hawley when he was at EJ Occ Health, and realized at that time, what a wonderful person he was. I was shocked and saddened by news of his death. I had the opportunity to spend some time with him at our Omnet Gold Seminar at the Windsor Court Hotel a few years ago, and to visit him occationally at EJ. What a truly gifted doctor and down right good person. I loved to visit him in his Kenner office to see all of the great memorabilia all over the walls and pick him out in the old pics.

Jane

I have spent much of this weekend remembering Art and how happy and delighted I was when you found each other and all this at Tulane! I remember one of your first dates and Art had the biggest bouquet of red roses to present to you. Art looked like a little kid about to embark on his first date. I regret your life together was not longer but I know you have many memories to savor. Rest assured that my thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of sadness. I was happy to see you celebrated life at your home after the service--how Art would have enjoyed that!!

Art - My mentor, my colleague, my friend, my brother in Christ. The world was a better place with you in it. Those of us that knew you will make the world a better place because of how you affected and influenced our lives. I miss you, but I know you are still with us. You have gone where we are going, and I will look forward to seeing you in eternity. Yor ran the race, and you ran it well until the end. In eternity we will smile together as we share the knowledge of the wonder, the power, the majesty, the greatness, and the grace of our Lord. May God bless your family, and may He give His peace, warmth, reassurance, contentment, abundance, strength and guidance to Jane. Art Hawley. Flight Surgeon, Physician, Naval Officer, mentor, colleague, and brother; farewell my friend...

Art was a kind and tender person - so genuine and good.....I continue to feel stunned that such a tragic thing could have happened, but will always remember him with deep fondess and admiration.

I only knew Dr. Hawley briefly, but it was long enough to have a clear sense of what a wonderful person he was. His loving wife, Jane, and his loving daughter, Kristen, are in my prayers for God's comfort and peace. They shall all be reunited in God's perfect time.

Dr. Hawley, you will be missed so very much. You have a special place in my heart and I will never have anything other than fond memories of you. From the 1st day I worked with you it was evident that you were a special individual. You never portrayed yourself as anything other than the true person you were each and every day. You not only treated your staff with compassion, respect and appreciation, you treated your patients the same. You have touched so many people and have shown that you can achieve many wonderful things and still remain a down to earth, fun-loving and caring human being. I consider myself honored to be able to say I worked with Dr. Hawley, but more so to say that Dr. Hawley was my friend. I will miss you so very much. May you rest in peace now that you are in Heaven.

What an HONOR and PRIVILEGE to know such a wonderful person and friend. Dr.Hawley was the epitome of doctors and Christians, and was a deep inspiration to me in the way he incorporated his strong faith in God with his patients. He was very generous and would do everything he could to help others in whatever they needed. He will always remain special in my heart!

Dr. Hawley, I will always rememeber the person the lord Blessed me to work side-by-side with; and that person was the man that I will always remember as the one and only "OCC DOC.". I knew exactly when to start putting the Pts. in the room for you; because of the sound of the pipes that were on your truck which told me you were pulling up. I will always have that sound stored in mind. You may be gone spiritually, but mentally you are still here with the staff and myself It was my pleasure knowing that I worked with a person like you .RIP My Friend Heaven awaits you.
