We can only imagine the loss you all must feel, especially you Joanna, as you have shared most of your life as Tom's wife. We feel blessed to have been able to call you all friends and to have witnessed the love and the beautiful family that you created together. Tom was the perfect example of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that anyone could have had. May we all learn from him and his examples and try to follow his lead. Such an amazing family man friend, and truly a man of God. Praying for you all, that you find comfort, peace and strength to carry you through the pain and the tremendous loss. Much love to you all.

Dear JoAnna, Kayla, and Muff (Tom's girls, including JoBeth)
I'm so sorry to hear that he died January 3rd after fighting a brave battle with liver cancer. Our friendship started over 40 years ago in the Agape Sunday School Class at Aurora UMC in New Orleans. It has continued as we have moved to other places. I'll never forget the wonderful times Tom hosted me to attend football games at College Station when his fighting Texas Aggies would battle my Oklahoma Sooners. He was a man's man, an Aggie's Aggie, and most of all a devoted disciple of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Tom Nelson will be sorely missed. God bless and comfort you at this time and in the days ahead. Amen

January 5, 2017

My deepest condolences to the family.
May the God of tender compassion,
console your grieving heart during
the loss of your dear beloved one.
During the challenging days ahead,
may the God of love give you the
needed strength to endure.
My sincere and heartfelt prayers
are with you.
(Psalms 121)
