Thomas "Tom" Frederick O'Connor, of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Anderson at Summerfield in Slidell, Louisiana, at the age of 75. Tom was born on April 22, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Doyle F. O'Connor and Lillian (Cranshaw) O'Connor. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert L. O'Connor. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Linda (Leonard) Aikens; nieces, Natalie Aikens and Sarah Adams; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and close friends. The family would like to thank his loving friends, Rocky and Sandy, for always being there for Tom at any given moment and his neighbor, Kathy, for always helping Tom when he needed her. Tom graduated from John Marshall High School in Los Angeles with the Class of 1966 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Chico in California. He was a gifted Certified Financial Planner who was highly respected by all who crossed his path in the professional world. He not only helped his clients successfully achieve their financial goals, but he conducted investment seminars and was extremely proud to mentor middle school and grammar school students in marketing and business concepts. He served as President and then member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Coast Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners as well as President of the Slidell Chamber of Commerce in 1988. At a very young age, he became a resilient and dedicated athlete with his preferred activities being track and field and tennis. Tom was on the Los Angeles Community College and California State University track teams and continued to do wind sprints and play a game of tennis with his treasured friends until just a few weeks before his passing. Tom's religious beliefs were solid and he was committed to God. He was most recently a member of the Covington Baptist Church in Covington. Tom was very devoted to supporting a child in Nicaragua through a Christian children's organization and had hopes to visit him one day. The greatest loves of Tom's life were spending time with his family and friends (who all were like family to him) and traveling. Because his friends and family were so widely dispersed, he could do both – and did so often! He enjoyed spending time with his number one companion, his dog, Sasha. Their love for each other was truly unconditional. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A funeral service will begin in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Tom will be laid to rest in Westwood Cemetery in Woodville, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Compassus Hospice or a charity of your choice are preferred. Memories and condolences may be expressed at
