Thomas Stevens Obituary

Thomas Stanley Stevens departed this life on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in New Orleans, he is the son of the late Samuel W. Stevens, Jr. and Margaret Johnson Stevens. A native of New Orleans, he attended William Frantz Elementary, Kohn Junior High and graduated from McDonogh #35 High School in 1980. Thomas had an insatiable love of music and entertainment as evidenced by his being a trombonist and proud member of the McDonogh #35 Roneagles Band. He attended Louisiana State University where he was inducted into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Theta Kappa chapter. He furthered his studies at Southern University of New Orleans. After graduation, Thomas moved to Los Angeles, where he served as a sales and customer service agent for AADCO RENTS, a special events company, founded and operated by his uncles all of whom he idolized. While there, he rediscovered his talent and love of work in the entertainment industry. After numerous years in Los Angeles, Thomas returned to New Orleans to assist with the caregiving of his ailing father. He continued to work in the entertainment industry as well as in the chartered school system. Most recently, Thomas worked in operations for New Harmony High School of New Orleans. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Stevens, brother Samuel W. Stevens, III, sisters Stephanie L. Stevens, and Karen B. Stevens Smith (Louis), and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, godchildren, friends, and fraternity brothers also survive him. Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, also employees of IDEA Oscar Dunn public school and faculty and staff of New Harmony High School are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Duplain W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70125 on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 8:00 am.
