Dear Waterman family, It is with so much regret that I am offering my condolences. Tom was such a nice guy. I was lucky enough to have been one of Tom's nurses and have had many opportunities to have long talks with him. Tom spoke of you all often and with much love. I will miss his smile and his laugh. My prayers are with you all.

I am so sorry for your loss & am keeping you all in my prayers.

My father, James D. "Johnny" Johnson, thought the world of Tom & held him in such high esteem - not only his legal mind, but him as a person. Papa mentored Tom when he began his legal career in Ponchatoula: it didn't take long for Tom to become the son my father never had. Tom loved & respected Papa to the same degree. I have no doubt he & Papa are having a wonderful time up in Heaven.

My memories of Tom are bits & pieces, as he was much closer to & worked with my father & my older sister Susan. Although I didn't see him on a regular basis, my memories of him are good ones...from the time I met him when I was 10, which was the first time he visited our house...to the last time I saw him this past November at Mama's 80th birthday party, he was always smiling, always kind, always genuine. No mystery why my father had such enormous love & respect for Tom.

Tom left this world a better place for being in it, & left those of us privileged to know him, no matter how well we knew him, much better for having done so. He was uniquely special.
