Troy Carter Obituary

Troy L. Carter entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 5:15 a.m. at the age of 57 years old. Beloved husband of Shantel Carter. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and made his home in Violet, LA, St. Bernard Parish. Troy was the son of the late Carolyn Carter. Troy was educated in the New Orleans Public School System, attending George Washington Carver and Walter L. Cohen High School. Troy was a diligent worker, reliable handyman, electrician's assistant, jack of all trades, and owned a Lawn Care Service. Troy had such a large heart that he would at time render his services to those who had a pressing need for upkeep. He joined the St. Bernard Community Baptist Church in 2012 under the leadership of the late Pastor Andrew Darby, Jr. He served St. Bernard Community Baptist Church as a deacon, a handyman, and as a part of the kitchen crew. Deacon Carter was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Carter; his brother, Charles Carter, and son, Darnell Bailey. Deacon Carter is survived by his wife, Shantel Carter; four children, Troy l. Smith, Tremel Gipson, Devonte Carter and Troidell D. Carter; six stepchildren, Jamyre Bailey, Jacoby Lewis, Shontrell Bailey, Janessa Lewis and Otis Bailey; grandchildren, Darniya Bailey, Renmani Boykins, Rendell Boykins, Malaysia Jones, Kyleigh Bass, and A'nyrian Bass; three siblings, sisters, Rina and Walleta, and brother, Kippty Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. Bernard Community Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Service on Saturday, January 13, 2024 beginning 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Community Baptist Church, 3938 St. Bernard Avenue, Rev. William Holmes III, pastor, officiating. Church visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment Holt Cemetery. Rev. David M. Patin Sr. and Gwiena Magee Patin, Directors.
