On Friday, August 21st, the Fr. Val McInnes Center will be dedicated on the site of the original Catholic Center in his memory. What a fine and appropriate tribute to his contribution to the spiritual journey of the many students at Tulane who were fortunate enough to encounter this extraordinary priest, friend, mentor and scholar. I was one of those students and look forward to being there to celebrate this wonderful event and dedication to my dear friend who righted my life course so many years ago. I am honored to participate in celebrating the dedication of the new Tulane Catholic Center!!

We all loved Father Val. He was always there for us. I now think of him often and his wise words on life. There can be no replacement for him but then he lives on in our hearts.

Fr. McInnes and the Tulane Catholic Center was my 'home away from home' during my time as a student at Tulane. Thank you, Father Val, for growing my faith. I am so glad the new Catholic Center will honor your memory.

Lynn and I are greatly saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Father Val. He has been a close friend of our family for many years, and was the priest who did our Pre-Cana instruction before we were married. We have enjoyed many happy times with Father Val when he was a guest in our home. He will live in our hearts forever.

Father McInnes was truly a great man and was the most influential priest to our extended family. He baptized, married, converted, advised, burried, and consoled most of us. We will miss him greatly.

I remember Father McInnes well. In my first two years at Tulane, he was the chaplain/ pastor at the Newman Center. He was a lovely person and always very kind to me. ~ Anne (Reardon) Urbanski, Madison, WI

Fr Val McInnes was a true leader, teacher, inspiration and he leaves us a wonderful legacy of Faith, Hope & Charity! I am a better person for having met him. I will pray for, and to him. Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Father McInnes married us, baptized us and buried us. He was a brilliant man, but so human. If he had been elected as Pope he would have been one of the greatest. If you knew him he made sure that you knew God. He will be remembered by so many.

Father Val was a true friend to all who knew him. He was an outstanding educator and spiritual leader. He was above all a humble and faithful servant of our Lord and His Church and to his Order. He will be greatly missed , but his influence will continue for all who knew him. May he rest in peace with all the Saints of God.

Fr. McInnes was a superb priest and a wonderful friend and colleague. He was faithful to his church and yet truly ecumenical. Thanks to permission from Archbishop Philip Hannan and Episcopal Bishop James Brown we officiated together in numerous mixed marriages between Roman Catholics and Episcopalians. He got me into the Order of St. Lazarus where we continued in many activities together.
May his soul rest in peace and may Light Perpetual shine upon him.

Father Val McInnes was a very respectable priest. I especially appreciated his tolerance with my decision to leave the Roman Catholic Church in 1969. He was also a great scholar, as the narrative clearly shows. May he now rest in peace.
