Valerie Sue Burford

BURFORD Valerie (Val) Sue Burford, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the age of 60. She was born in Fort Dodge, IA, April 13, 1953. Val was preceded in death by her mother, Vida M. Leathers; father, Howard H. Leathers; and grandson, Nicholas Ryan Potter. She is survived by her husband, Thomas V. Burford of Spring, TX.; daughter, Stacey Skinner, her husband Jamie and grandsons, Jordan and Preston Potter, all of Gillette, WY; stepdaughter Vanessa Burford of Metarie, LA; brothers, Chad Leathers, his wife Lori of Albertville, MN; Wade Leathers, his wife Caroline of Glenview, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, and other loving relatives. Val retired as a Logistics coordinator. She had a deep passion for gospel music and made several trips visiting her favorite gospel music groups throughout Texas and the southeast. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, TX and enjoyed placing herself in the presence of the Holy Spirit with music and messages at church. A memorial celebration and internment of her life will be on March 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at Klein Memorial Park, Spring-Klein, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Heart Institute or Houston SPCA.
