Veronica Josephine Lewis

Veronica Josephine Lewis, "V Roni", "NeNe, departed this life peacefully in her sleep to be with her savior on November 28, 2021, at the age of 89. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a retired employee of the Veteran's Administration where she worked for 32 years. Veronica lived her life as a faithful servant of God and unselfishly cared for her mother, brothers, and sister in their time of need. She was the anchor and rock of the family. Her heart and home were always a place of loving shelter, and no one was ever turned away. She was full of quick wit, feisty comebacks, and she had a heart that connected with everyone. She is survived by her only child, Bruce Letman, a host of cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews, longtime time friends and neighbors, and coworkers at VA in New Orleans and California. She is preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Louise Lewis, her sister, Marie L. Smith, her brothers, Lawrence, Morris, and Joseph Lewis, and her companion, Jim Letman. Relatives and Friends of the family are all invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 11, 2021, for 8:00am visitation and 10:00am mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave, New Orleans, 70116.
