Vincent LoCoco Obituary

Vincent Theodore LoCoco passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the age of 82. Vincent was born in New Orleans where he attended Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Grammar School and Jesuit High School (Class of 1952). Following high school, he studied at St. Benedict Seminary in Covington, Louisiana and in 1956 received his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Notre Dame Seminary. That same year, Archbishop Joseph Rummel sent him to Rome, Italy where he attended the Pontifical North American College where he studied at the Gregorian University obtaining a degree in Theology in 1958. After much reflection, he left the seminary and pursued a career in law. He received his J.D. degree from Loyola University in 1962, where he was the Associate Editor of the Law Review, Chairman of the Natural Law Institute, and a member of Blue Key and Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society. For over 50 years Vincent practiced law and was widely regarded as a preeminent estate-planning attorney. He was the special litigation attorney for the S&WB of New Orleans for over 20 years and was also the co-founder of the Many & LoCoco Law Firm, which began in 1967 with the late M. Hepburn Many. A member of the American, Louisiana State and New Orleans Bar Associations, Louisiana State Law Institute, St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Association, in which he served as Vice President from 1981-85, and Citizens for Educational Freedom, Louisiana Chapter, where he served as President from 1983 to 1992. Vincent was a very active member of the community. He served on the Archdiocesan School Board, where he presided as President for many years. In addition, he was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish Council and School Board serving as President. He served as Procurator of the Marriage Tribunal. Archdiocesan Synod, and Chairman for Section on the Laity. For over fifty years he attended Manresa House of Retreats. For his dedicated service to the Church, Archbishop Philip Hannan presented him with the Order of St. Louis Medal in 1978. He remained a life-long resident of the area near Bayou St. John, close to City Park and Holy Rosary, which remained dear to his heart. Vincent was also proud of his Sicilian heritage. Beloved husband for over 54 years of Lynda Goodier LoCoco. Father of Pamela LoCoco Montz (Gregory), Elizabeth LoCoco Doody (Sean Michael), and Vincent B. "Chip" LoCoco (Wendy). Loving grandfather of Caroline, Madeleine, and Justin Montz; Sean, Colin, Ryan, Ian, and Kiley Doody; and Matthew and Gabrielle LoCoco. Son of the late Vincent V. and Mamie Tumminello LoCoco. Brother of Nathalie LoCoco Lala (Anthony). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral.
