Virginia C. Newfield

Virginia C. Newfield, the daughter of Paul C. Newfield Sr. and Marie Louise Terrell, was born April 2, 1925, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She resided near St. Roch Playground in her earlier years, then later in Arabi (St. Bernard Parish). Displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Virginia relocated to Thibodaux for a few years, and eventually made it back home to New Orleans. Virginia died Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2013, at Chateau de Notre Dame in New Orleans, age 88 years, after a prolonged illness. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Guy M. (Marie Louise) Francis of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; she was the sister of the late Paul C. Newfield Jr. of Mandeville, LA, Msgr. John Lyle Newfield of Houma, LA, and Frank H. Newfield of Arabi and New Orleans. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Paul Newfield III, Bonnie N. Burke, Michael A. Newfield, Mary Caroline N. Garland, Guy Martin Francis, Jr., Elizabeth F. Kaleida and Mary Catherine F. Corrigan, and a host of grandnieces and -nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends of the family, Shell retirees, and the friends and staff at Chateau de Notre Dame are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, La. at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2013.
