Virginia Rapp Obituary

Virginia Gagnard Rapp, age 89, of Shalimar, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. She was born April 19,1932, in New Orleans, the daughter of Clarence and Lessie (Moreau) Gagnard. Virginia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Kristina Rapp of Shalimar, grandsons Eric Rapp of Pensacola, and Christopher Rapp of Bradenton, Florida; sister June Bourgeois of Metairie, and sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Emile Saba of Canby, Oregon. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Her parents and beloved daughter, Ginger Catherine Rapp, along with her former husband, Frank S. Rapp, preceded her in death. Virginia graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1948. She was a former member of St. Francis, St. Angela, and St. Ann parishes and a long-time resident of New Orleans and Metairie, until she retired after 37 years with AT&T/BellSouth and moved to Florida to be close to her grandsons. She loved to read and discuss books with her sisters on the family 'coconut telegraph'. She also strived to stay physically fit and up to date with heath trends and she loved dogs. In Florida, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Mary's Church in Fort Walton Beach. Visitation is from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Lakelawn Metairie Funeral Home with Mass to immediately follow. Interment will be at All Saints Mausoleum.

I cherish the times my Nanan welcomed me to stay with her in Florida. I love looking back at the many photos she took of me as a toddler. We had wonderful talks when I visited her about her sweet daughter Ginger and various topics. Rest in Peace dear Nanan!
Love you! Your niece, Constance

Many fond memories of my Nanan.
On many Friday evenings she always needed help eating those boiled crabs.
A new puppy needed extra playtime.
She needed a pen pal when she moved out of town.
And the best ever, she gave me my best ever dog, Tutti.
Thanks again for the wonderful memories.

On behalf of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association and Brother Martin High School, I offer our prayers and condolences. We will say a Mass in his memory.

Father of all, we pray to you for Virginia, all those we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I am Bubby Swiler's daughter. He was FS's cousin. I remember her fondly. She was so very nice. Prayers!
