Vivian Theresa Simpson

Vivian Theresa Simpson, age 64, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Vivian was born on March 10, 1957 to the late Dorothy Mae and Rudolph Norman Russell Sr. in Mobile, AL. After graduating from Mattie T. Blount High School in 1975, she landed her first job at Burger King where over the years she worked her way to becoming a Store Manager. When she moved to Louisiana she met Elias John Simpson, and they wed in 1999. Once she moved to Slidell, she was employed by Pope John Paul II for 15 years and also worked at Honey Island Elementary School for 3 years, retiring from Salmen High School in 2018. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and wife. Vivian possessed a passion encouraging and supporting them through the many successes and difficulties of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others. She never met a stranger as she wore a smile that captivated others. Pope John Paul stated, "She was a beautiful soul, inside and out." Vivian was a loyal and faithful member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church for many years. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Elias J. Simpson, mother, Dorothy Mae and father, Rudolph Norman Russell Sr., two sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Lula M. Jackson and a brother, Joseph Sawyer. She is survived by three loving daughters, one dearly devoted~ Cassandra Russell Hardy (GA), Elisha Simpson (LA) and Natasha Simpson (GA). A grandson, Michael St. Augustine Huff (GA). Three siblings, Barbara Waiters (WV), Cynthia Milligan (AL) and Rudolph N Russell Jr. (Desiree), (PA). A brother-in-law, Roy Lee Jackson (AL), sister-in-law, Theresa Sawyer (FL), two especially close friends, Lutricia Sykes and Toni Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 400 Westchester Place, Slidell, LA., on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Public Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM.
