Wally, You're father was a great man and a great engineer. While I was not a student of his, I know many who were and to a man every one had nothing but the highest praise of him. It was a pleasure to have known him well after graduation. He was a true gentleman and set the highest standards of what a dedicated professional engineer should be. I am sure you and your family will miss him greatly, and my prayers are with you all.

To the Blessey Family,
Professor Blessey was a tremendous influence on my professional career as a civil engineer, and I have spoken of him often in describing my background and education. He truly was "an engineer's engineer." While this is a difficult time for the family, know that he had such an impact on so many people like myself. I can still hear him calling on us in class by our last names, always preceded by "Mr." I was fortunate to play a round of golf with him at survey camp, with a couple of other students. He was a wonderful golfer. He will long be remembered by so many. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Friends, and 'very Special Patients':
I'm so sorry to learn of my old friend's demise. I'm so glad that I had time to visit with him from time to time over at Christwood.
For sure I tried to come see you this morning, but when I got to the Causeway, it was closed -- due to FOG!
Please accept my condolences.

Walter Blessey was the best Engineering Professor at Tulane University during my undergraduate and graduate years as a student and later as a friend during the 41 years that I served as a Professor there. He, of all the people that I met in the Engineering world, had the most influence on my professional life.
